Why Metas are Important for Car Dealer Websites

Far too many automotive SEO professionals parrot what they have heard in the broader SEO profession without thinking – that “meta tags, and particularly keywords are not important”, or “you can ignore them altogether”. That may be true for websites that have the luxury of abundant content. Content equals SEO keywords.  So yes, abundant content means no need for those meta keywords.

But the average car dealer website does not have this SEO advantage.  So for car dealer websites, metas and keywords and anything that can be considered content, is very valuable.

This is not a matter of being the best, just better than the competition. Car dealers everywhere can benefit from good keyword selection and updating of the meta keywords, description and title tags with those keywords.  If you will just update all your meta tags with carefully chosen keywords, you will find your SERP position moving up almost magically.  And that will translate into leads.

How do you know which keywords to chose?  That is perhaps the most important question you will have to answer.  They will be different for every business.  And that is another subject which is best handled by an experienced SEO.
